BeiDou (COMPASS) Navigation Satellite System (BDS) made its debut at the 10th China - ASEAN Expo held on Sep 3-6 in Nanning, capital of South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to promote the Beidou system with campaign including BDS Theme Exhibition, Beidou Satellite Navigation Industry International Cooperation and Investment Forum and so on. It marks the beginning of the promotion of BDS to Southeast Asia.
Ran Chengqi, director of China Satellite Navigation Office said “joining China - ASEAN Expo is the first important campaign of BDS to ASEAN. We will engage in talks including the Promotion Conference on ASEAN Industrial Parks, China - ASEAN Port City Cooperation Network Forum, the Round-table Meeting on Investment Cooperation & Invest in ASEAN, China - ASEAN Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation Conference, and a special session for BDS: Beidou Satellite Navigation Industry International Cooperation and Investment Forum.”
A Beidou Theme Exhibition was held at the Expo to display and promote BDS from comprehensive and multi views to the ASEAN members.
A delegation consisting of presidents or general managers from China's 10 BDS companies, led by Li Zhongbao, President of the Satellite Application Research Institute under China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASTC) participated in the Expo. It is an important opportunity for BDS companies to display their capabilities, strength and product level.
The anniversary celebration activities were also held at the 10th China - ASEAN Expo. A series of forums and conferenceswere staged on specific sectors such as traffic, port, finance, science and technology, environment protection, education and culture etc., under the theme of the Expo “ Regional Cooperation and Development――New Opportunities, NewDriving Forces, and New stages” .
It is known that as an important part of the campaign of BDS to the Asia-Pacific region, the campaign of BDS to ASEAN was also included into China-ASEAN 10th anniversary activities.
